The WGAN 560 Morning Show hosts Mike Violette and Ken Altshuler received a full dose of the unemployment hearing officers controversy Monday morning.

The focus of the discussion, which can be heard here, was the Maine Sunday Telegram data dive into the LePage administration’s claim that the appeals system is broken, inconsistent and unfair. The data tells a different story, including that federal audits show Maine’s hearing officers have a consistent record of fair appeals and businesses have been the beneficiary of most decisions since 2003.

There may be some additional developments in the story this week, but for now it’s back to the legislative session as lawmakers dig into the state’s next two-year budget.

Programming note: I’m hoping to bring The Morning Briefing back from its week-long hiatus beginning Tuesday. Apologies to the loyal readers for sporadic posts.
