YORK – Fryeburg Academy scored 11 runs in the fifth inning Friday, erasing an eight-run deficit and going on to hand York its first loss, winning 15-10 in a Western Maine Conference baseball game.

Ian MacFawn capped the rally with a three-run homer. Fryeburg (3-3) also benefited from six other hits and five walks in the inning.

Zach Leal drove in three runs during a five-run first and Adam Bailey connected for a three-run homer in the second for the Wildcats (5-1).

FREEPORT 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Dan Burke struck out nine, walked one and gave up three hits to lead the Falcons (3-4) over Gray-New Gloucester (1-7) at Freeport.

Burke surrendered a leadoff home run to Tyler St. Pierre, then retired the Patriots in order for five consecutive innings.

Erick Ferreras drove in the winning run with a single in the third. Jack Davenport had two RBI for the Falcons with a sacrifice fly and a single.

Brendan McNally and Thomas Wood hit back-to-back doubles in the seventh for Gray-New Gloucester’s second run.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 7, MEDOMAK VALLEY 2: Sawyer Pinkham struck out five, walked two and allowed four hits, and also had three hits and two runs as the Eagles (5-2) beat the Panthers (0-7) at Newcastle.

Wally Morris hit a two-run single in the fifth inning, when Lincoln scored three runs to take a 4-1 lead. Travis Creamer added a two-run single in the sixth.

Ryan Ripley and Ollie Brown hit home runs for Medomak Valley.

WAYNFLETE 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 3: Joey Schnier hit a grand slam in the second inning and the Flyers (4-1) went on to beat Old Orchard Beach (3-3) at Portland.

Schnier finished with five RBI. Issac Scher had two hits, drove in a run and scored three times.

Nik Morrill of Waynflete pitched six innings and gave up one earned run.

WELLS 8, LAKE REGION 2: Dan Quint had three hits and Charlie Bell drove in four runs for the Warriors (3-4) against the Lakers (1-6) at Wells.

Quint scored after each of his three singles and stole two bases.

Bell hit a two-run double in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth.

In the first inning, Ben Chaine singled in Brody Stofflet, who reached on a double in the first for the Lakers. Jordan Williams added an RBI double in the sixth.

CONY 11, LEWISTON 2: Zack Lachance had four hits and picked up the pitching win as the Rams (5-2) beat the Blue Devils (5-2) at Lewiston.

Taylor Carrier and Reid Shostak each singled and tripled, and Chandler Shostak had two singles for Cony.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 3, EDWARD LITTLE 2: Josh Bailey singled home Zack Isbell in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Erskine Academy (2-5) over Edward Little (1-5) at South China.

Isbell drew a walk with two outs and stole second to set up Bailey’s winner.

Bailey had two hits for Erskine and Lew Jensen singled twice for Edward Little. Shawn Soucie picked up the pitching win in relief of Nick Gayer.

WINTHROP 13, DIRIGO 11: The Ramblers (5-0) scored 10 runs in the fourth inning, then held off the Cougars (4-2) at Winthrop.

Ben Allen and Matt Sekerak each singled and doubled, and Cabot Lancaster and Ben Caprara added two hits each for Winthrop, which totaled 13 hits.

T.J. Frost and Jack Brown had three hits apiece, and Hunter Ross and Matt Trenoweth added two each for Dirigo.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 10, MONMOUTH 7: Brandon Hodges and Pat Ryan had two hits apiece as Sprunce Mountain (5-2) downed the Mustangs (5-1) at Monmouth.


GREELY 11, YORK 3: Mitch Mullin scored four goals and Fred Bower had two, helping the Rangers (5-0) down the Wildcats (2-2) at Cumberland.

Sam Doolittle had two assists and Griffin Doree made seven saves for Greely.

Mitchell Lee scored all three York goals.

MARSHWOOD 13, BIDDEFORD 3: Matt Scremin scored seven goals and Drew Hale added six, leading Marshwood (5-3) over the Tigers (0-6) at Biddeford.

WELLS 16, LAKE REGION 2: Alex McCormack scored three goals in a balanced offense as Wells (4-1) downed the Lakers (2-4) at Naples.

Spencer Sibley, Ryan Marsh, Brandon Morton, Drew Shelley and Jake Godin scored twice each for the Warriors. Zach Tidd had both Lake Region goals.
