PARSONSFIELD — Police have confirmed that a Cornish man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night.

William L. King Jr., Chief Deputy for the York County Sheriff’s Office, said 41-year-old Shawn Smith died after he lost control of his 1985 Honda motorcycle on Route 25 in Parsonsfield.

The only eyewitness to the crash, 67-year-old Constance Wood, said she was cresting a hill when she saw Smith approaching from the other direction. Wood told police that Smith was in her lane and that he lost control as he tried to avoid hitting her sports utility vehicle.

King said Smith’s motorcycle skidded into Wood’s vehicle. Smith was wearing a helmet at the time.
The crash was reported around 5:45 p.m.
