BATH — Morse High School picked up its second Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference softball win in a 14-2 victory over Mt. View on Wednesday.
The Shipbuilders, 2-10 and scheduled to visit Leavitt on Friday, jumped out to a 3-0 first-inning lead and never looked back, pounding out eight hits and finishing the Mercy Rule win in the sixth inning.
“We still committed way too many errors, but we played better, kept our heads up and continued to work hard,” said Morse coach Will Laffely.
Jacelyn McNeill struck out four, walked two and permitted two hits in the win, while Mt. View pitcher Dynah Biledeau walked 12 and struck out five.
Nichole Laggan, Lucy Rawson and Morgan Cram each had two hits to power Morse. Laggan drove in a pair of runs, while McNeill singled and picked up three RBIs and Leia Graves singled.
Kersey Bouley and Caitlyn Poulin singled for Mt. View (0-12).

Meghan Young singled three times and pitcher Lauren Barne tossed a six-hitter as the visiting Warriors (7-4) won at Freeport (4-7) in Western Maine Conference play.
Tied 2-2 in the fifth inning, Young picked up an RBI to put Wells ahead to stay. Barne struck out four and walked one.
Necole Harrison tripled and Lauren Cormier had two singles to lead the Falcons, who host Lake Region today at 4 p.m.
Freeport pitcher Leigh Wyman struck out five, walked three and allowed six hits.

The Saints scored three runs in the top of the seventh for a 5-4 Mountain Valley Conference win at Lisbon Falls.
Jaqueline Schmitz drove home the game-winning run for St. Dom’s (3-8). Kelly Pomerleau and Bethany Fox were each 2-for-3, and Sam Ladd finished 2-for-4 for the victors. Sam Ladd struck out two and walked three.
Kailyn Hill doubled, tripled and drove in three runs for the Greyhounds (3-9), while Chantal Bisson was 2-for-3 and Molly Nicholson singled in a run.
Pitcher Arianna Kahler walked six.
The Greyhounds are slated to host Monmouth in their final home game on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Three pitchers combined on a one-hitter as Edward Little (6-5) picked up a KVAC win over 0-12 Brunswick.
KK Teel took the loss for the Dragons, surrendering 12 hits. A six-run second inning put the Red Eddies in control.
Calli Murphy tripled twice for the victors, while Danica Nadeau doubled and singled, and Sarah Hammond and Brooke Reynolds each singled twice.
Brunswick is slated to visit Skowhegan on Friday.
