TOPSHAM — Lillian Kjellman put home the winning goal as the Brunswick High School girls lacrosse team slipped past rival Mt. Ararat, 10-9 in overtime in an Eastern Maine Class A contest on Thursday.

The Dragons improved to 3- 6 and take on Morse Saturday on the Hyde School turf field. The game is slated for a 10 a.m. start.

Mt. Ararat fell to 4-5 with its second consecutive loss and visits Mountain Valley on Monday at 4 p.m.

Eliza Brooks paced Brunswick with four goals, Kjellman had two, and Grace Rabinowitz, Olivia LeRoy, Libby Arford and Savanna Kay added one tally each.

Katie Labbay led the Eagles with three goals, while Carly Raymond and Sierra Gilley buried two each. Alison Nolan and Syd Clark chipped in one tally apiece.

In goal, Brunswick’s EmaLeigh Aschbrenner and Mt. Ararat’s Bailey Sullivan each made nine stops.

MORSE 21

The host Shipbuilders outscored Lincoln Academy 11-0 in the second half for a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win at McMann Field.

Ten different players scored for Morse, which improved to 4-4. Sadia Crosby led the way with four goals and two assists, with Sophie Sreden adding three goals, Bronwyn Morissette three goals and one helper, and two goals each coming from Maddy Olsen, Ruth Nadeau, Paige Martin and Grace Koslosky.

Isabelle Paulus finished with one goal and one assist, and Zoe Simard and Monica Frempong chipped in a goal apiece.

Scoring for Lincoln Academy, which trailed 10-5 at the half, were Laura Otterbein, Dani Pierce, Eliza Cole, Isabel Carlson and Katie Riley.

Cat Sener had six saves in the win, while Bailey Pendleton was peppered with 39 shots and made 14 stops.
