The State Fire Marshal’s Office said a body has been recovered from the rubble of a burned out house in the Waldo County town of Monroe.

Investigators think the body is likely that of the man who lived in the 1½-story brick house on Jackson Road – 56-year-old Randy Oliver. The body was found in the rubble of the house that had fallen into the basement .

The fire was discovered by a passer-by at about 11:30 Thursday night and the body was found at about 6 a.m. on Friday. All that remains of the house are the exterior brick walls.

The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for examination and positive identificiation.

Investigators said because of the extensive damage, it is unlikely a cause of the fire can be determined.
