May is here, but things aren’t winding down at the Teen Center.

Nine teens participated in our field trip to Spare Time this month, a gift from the United Way. (Thanks!) Bowling seems to have struck a passion in a few of our teens, who bowled in multiple games simultaneously so as to maximize their bowling experience.

Our annual SAT Prep Class was a huge success, with 23 students participating. A thank-you to Jordan Cardone for coordinating the twoweekend classes again this year. We have testimony from one participant that, having attended, she now feels more prepared for the test. We couldn’t offer this annual class without the support of the Senter Fund. Thanks again.

OCEANNA DALL … May Teen of the Month

The May Teen of the Month is Oceanna Dall, a seventhgrader at Brunswick Junior High School. Oceanna is a charismatic young lady who has introduced many new teen members to the center in the last months. She will receive two tickets to the movies.

We also just learned that the Teen Center program will receive a $5,000 grant from the Maine Women’s Giving Tree! This grant will underwrite additional operating hours for the Teen Center next year. This is the single most requested enhancement of current programming requested be the teens themselves.

This gift will make a huge difference in our programming. Thank you to the Women’s Giving Tree Foundation.

Finally, my time as the interim Teen Center coordinator is soon ending. I am sad to be saying good-bye to take a dream position with the Audubon Society. Jordan Cardone, a previous and wellloved coordinator, will be stepping in for the summer. I hope to visit as frequently as possible. The teens have made this experience so rewarding.
