YORK – Bailey Train hit a two-run homer in the third inning and Greely remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory against York in a Western Maine Conference baseball game Wednesday.

Train also pitched the final inning of a combined three-hitter for the Rangers (14-0). Connor Russell went the first five innings and Michael McDevitt pitched the sixth.

Alex Mercurio hit an RBI double in the sixth for York (10-3).

 

FREEPORT 10, YARMOUTH 6: Nick Cartmell drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single and Brady Davis added a three-run double as Freeport (7-7) pulled away from the Clippers (8-6) at Yarmouth.

Davis finished with two doubles and five RBI.

POLAND 6, LAKE REGION 0: Lukas Johnson pitched six shutout innings and hit a solo homer as the Knights (8-6) defeated Lake Region (2-12) at Poland.

Johnson gave up two hits and three walks, and struck out four.

The Knights scored three runs in the third on an RBI double by Kaleb Bridgham, an RBI single by Corey Cunliffe and Bridgham’s steal of home.

 

FALMOUTH 4, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Thomas Fortier pitched a three-hit shutout and was involved in three runs for the Yachtsmen (12-1) against the Capers (8-6) at Falmouth.

Fortier, who struck out seven, scored the first run, coming home from second on a dropped outfield fly in the second inning. Connor Aube added a second run in the inning, scoring on an infield out.

Fortier singled home Andrew Emple and Will D’Agostino for two more runs in the third.

Aaron Dobieski had two hits for Cape Elizabeth.

 

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 5, WAYNFLETE 0: Tanner Wentworth and Billy Rascoe combined for a no-hitter as the Raiders (7-7) downed Waynflete (7-5) at Fryeburg.

Wentworth struck out nine, walked four and hit two batters.

The Flyers loaded the bases in the sixth inning on two walks and a hit batter. Rascoe made a running over-the-shoulder catch at shortstop to get out of the inning, then pitched a hitless seventh.

Tyler Saunders drove in the first two runs with a double in the third.

 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 11, WELLS 2: Justin McKenna pitched a three-hitter as the Patriots (4-10) downed Wells (3-11) at Gray.

Kevin Cavallaro tripled home two runs, then scored on Thomas Wood’s single during a six-run third inning.

Wood finished with three hits and two RBI.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 4, OCEANSIDE 1: Ollie Brown drove in the first run with a single in the fourth inning and Medomak Valley (2-10) went on to surprise Oceanside (8-6) at Waldoboro.

Tyler Emerson scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and drove in the final two runs with a single in the sixth.

The Panthers used six pitchers to keep Oceanside off balance. Brandon Soper got the win, pitching two innings, giving up two hits and striking out four.

 

OXFORD HILLS 10. ERSKINE ACADEMY 1: Nick Bowie drove in six runs with a grand slam and a two-run double to lead the Vikings (12-1) over Erskine Academy (4-10) at South China.

CHEVERUS 13, WINDHAM 7: Thomas Lawson and Jack Sutton both scored three goals as Cheverus (8-2) downed the Eagles (3-7) at Windham.

Hilmar Smith added two goals for the Stags. Christian Zwirner and Zach Davis scored two each for Windham.

Cheverus dominated the first three quarters, opening a 12-1 lead.

 

DEERING 9, THORNTON ACADEMY 4: Rick Murray and Billy Farrell each had three goals, John DeLoach stopped 16 shots and the Rams (6-5) scored all of the seven second-half goals to overcome the Golden Trojans (6-5) at Portland.

Isaac Santerre had three assists for Deering.

Taylor Brown, Zach Bryant, Isaac Sinclair and Ian Carrier had the goals for Thornton Academy.

 

FREEPORT 11, LAKE REGION 4: Sam Wogan scored four goals to lead Freeport (2-9) over the Lakers (2-9) at Naples.

Galen Simmons and Clayton Morrison scored three goals each for the Falcons. Zach Tidd scored three for the Lakers.
