Tucker White, a senior outfielder for the University of Southern Maine from Deerfield, N.H., is the D3baseball.com 2013 Player of the Year.

White, who was named to the D3baseball.com All-America season team last year as the designated hitter, heads into the Division III NCAA finals batting .411 with 13 doubles, nine triples, 10 home runs, 56 RBI and 35 stolen bases.

The Little East Conference and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association also named White the Player of the Year. 

White and third baseman Nick Grady from Whitefield were selected for spots on the D3baseball.com All-America first team and left-handed pitcher Logan Carman of Newfields, N.H., and designated hitter Chris Bernard from Scarborough, were picked to the All-America second team.

Grady has a team leading .417 batting average with 16 doubles, six triples, two homers, 15 stolen bases and 59 RBI. Grady had been named the Most Outstanding Player at the Little East Conference tournament.

Carman is 12-0 with a 1.62 ERA. He has held opponents to a .169 batting average and pitched two shutouts in the NCAA regional tournament.

Bernard has a .343 batting average with 15 doubles, two triples, six homers, 16 stolen bases and 45 RBI.

 

FOOTBALL: Wide receiver Nick Harwell is transferring to Kansas after spending three seasons at Miami of Ohio.

Harwell missed three games last season with a knee injury but still led the Mid-American Conference with 68 catches for 870 yards and eight touchdowns.
