Scarborough High junior pitcher Ben Greenberg has been named as the Gatorade Maine Baseball Player of the Year.
Greenberg has helped the Red Storm to the top ranking in Western Class A with a 13-2 record. He is 6-0 on the year with an Earned Run Average of 0.55. He’s hitting .431 with two home runs and 17 RBI.
Greenberg, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, maintains an A-minus average in his classes and is involved with several volunteer projects at the school.
“Greenberg is an outstanding player,” said Brian Dill, coach at Kennebunk. “He has great control of a fastball, curve and slider. He’s one of the top pitchers we’ve faced and he might be the best hitter.”
Greenberg is now a finalist for the Gatorade National Baseb all Player of the Year award.
