FARMINGTON – A Wilton woman will serve four years in prison, with all but two years suspended, after accepting a plea deal for selling the drugs that led to the overdose death of a Farmington woman last fall.

The defendant, Terry Oliver, 54, is one of five people charged in connection with the death of Marilyn Rider, 52, who died of a morphine overdose at her Silver Maple Lane home in November.

Oliver also faces three years of probation under the plea agreement accepted Thursday by Justice Michaela Murphy in Franklin County Superior Court, according to court documents.

Oliver pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

She and co-defendant Roy Gordon, 42, were the only two involved who were originally charged with a Class A crime, aggravated trafficking of drugs.

Oliver is already in jail for violating a condition of release on a prior charge and will be sentenced June 28 on the plea deal.

The morphine on which Rider overdosed, which originally had been in pill form, had been sold earlier that day to Scott Kidder, 32, who previously accepted a deal and was sentenced to two years in prison.

The other three defendants, Roy Gordon, Seth Gordon, 23, and Erick Barnes, 27, have been released on bail. They were indicted two weeks ago on charges connected with Rider¹s death.
