BOSTON — A Baltimore area preschool teacher is preparing to leave a Massachusetts hospital in which she was recovering from serious injuries suffered in the Boston Marathon bombings.
Erika Brannock lost a leg in the April 15 explosions that killed three people and wounded more than 260. Her sister, Nicole Gross of Charlotte, N.C., suffered two broken legs and a severed Achilles tendon.
The 29-year-old Brannock is the last of the patients hospitalized at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She will talk to reporters shortly before she is discharged on Monday.
Brannock of Towson and Gross were waiting at the finish line for their mother, Carol Downing, to finish the race when the explosions occurred. Gross’ husband, Michael Gross, also was injured.
Family members have said Brannock and her sister face long recoveries.
