WESTBROOK – Sammy Crosman homered twice and Gianna Riccardi scored on a wild pitch to give Marshwood a 3-2 Western Class A preliminary-round softball victory Tuesday over Westbrook.

After Crosman homered in the first, No. 8 Westbrook (8-9) took a 2-1 lead in the third when Emily Thornton scored on a wild pitch and Emma Berry on Amberly Delponte’s flyout.

Crosman tied the game in the top of the fourth before Riccardi scored the winner in the fifth for the No. 9 Hawks (9-7-1).

Nicole Harvey went the distance for the Hawks, striking out nine and giving up six hits.


BONNY EAGLE 4, GORHAM 1: Becca Howell’s two-run double highlighted a three-run first inning as the No. 6 Scots (11-5-1) topped the No. 11 Rams (6-11) in a Western Class A prelim at Standish.

Allison Pillar singled home Allie Pike to tie the game 1-1, and scored along with Kelsey Gaddy on Howell’s double.

Pike pitched four innings of hitless ball for Bonny Eagle, after relieving Erica Sullivan, who had allowed one run on three hits.


GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 9, MARANACOOK 2: Stephanie Greaton pitched a two-hitter and chipped in a two-run double as the sixth-seeded Patriots (12-5) downed the 11th-seeded Black Bears (7-10) in a Western Class B B prelim at Gray.

Anna Knapp had three hits with a triple and an RBI. Maria Valente and Lindsay Nunley also had three hits apiece.

Ashley Michaud and Lindsay Jackson had Maranacook’s hits.


MEDOMAK VALLEY 9, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 0: Desiree Benner threw a three-hitter and Bridget Miller snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run, inside-the-park home run in fifth, helping the No. 9 Panthers (11-6) beat the eighth-seeded Huskies (9-8) in an Eastern Class B prelim at Pittsfield.

Dani Hunt added a two-run triple in the sixth and an RBI double in the seventh. Abby Maguire chipped in a two-run double in the seventh.


LINCOLN 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Morgan Achorn drove home three runs to lead the eighth-ranked Eagles (11-6) past No. 9 Spruce Mountain (10-7) in Western Class B prelim in Newcastle.

Miranda Achorn singled home a run and also scored during a three-run first inning. Morgan Achorn rapped an RBI single and also scored as Lincoln rallied for four more in the third for a 7-0 lead.

Casidee Couture scored the only run for the Phoenix, scoring on LaDesta’s sixth-inning fly to center.


WINSLOW 8, MDI 2: Ali LeClair went 2 for 4, including a two-run inside-the-park home run, as the Black Raiders (11-6) beat the visiting Trojans in an Eastern Class B prelim.


MARSHWOOD 10, GORHAM 3: Lindsey Poirier scored four goals, Alli Schoff had three goals and four assists and the No. 3 Hawks (10-3) downed the No. 6 Rams (5-8) in a Western Class A quarterfinal at South Berwick.

Janay Wright also scored three times and Korinne Bohunsky had two goals and two assists for Marshwood.

Katie Tucker scored three goals for Gorham.
