PORTLAND – Nick Schleh scored six goals to pace second-seeded Cheverus to a 15-7 victory over seventh-seeded Portland in a Western Class A boys’ lacrosse quarterfinals Wednesday

Tom Lawson and Jack Sutton added three goals apiece for Che- verus (11-2), which will play No. 6 Deering on Saturday.

Max Pierter tallied four times for Portland (3-10).

YARMOUTH 16, OAK HILL 1: Brady Neujahr and Nick Ronan each scored three goals as the third-seeded Clippers (10-3) handled the sixth-seeded Raiders (9-4) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Yarmouth.

Quinn Hathcock, Christian Henry, Brendan Dioli and Ian Edgecomb added two goals apiece.

Matthew Martin made 10 saves for Oak Hill.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 20, CAMDEN HILLS 1: Oliver Silverson scored four goals, Eliott Wellenbach had three goals and four assists, and the second-seeded Panthers (9-4) rolled past the seventh-seeded Windjammers (5-8) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Yarmouth.

T.J. Daigler added three goals and three assists, Matt Hawkins had three goals and two assists, and Colton Ackerman also scored three times.

GARDINER 9, FREEPORT 3: Alex Nadeau scored three goals, and Dalton Sargent and Josh Caldwell each added a pair to lead the top-seeded Tigers (13-0) past No. 8 Freeport (3-10) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Gardiner.

Gardiner led 4-1 at halftime, then scored two goals 34 seconds apart early in the third quarter.

Sam Farrar scored two goals and Clayton Morrison added another for Freeport.

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 14, MORSE 8: Zach Glazier had six goals and an assist to lead the fourth-seeded Hawks to an Eastern Class B quarterfinal win over the No. 5 Shipbuilders in Readfield.

Toby Smith added three goals, and Dan Condon and Jesse Evans each scored twice for Maranacook/Winthrop (11-3).

Hawks goalie Zach Bessette made 13 saves.

Alex Paulus and Oliver Kruze each scored two goals for Morse (9-4).

BASEBALL

MESSALONSKEE 3, BANGOR 2: Josh Woodard singled home the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift the sixth-seeded Eagles (11-6) over the No. 3 Rams (11-6) in an Eastern Class A quarterfinal at Bangor.

Messalonskee (11-6) scored twice in the fifth, taking advantage of two errors and RBI singles from Woodard and Jared Cunningham. The Eagles got their first run in the third when Trevor Gettig reached on a dropped third strike, moved to third on Jake Dexter’s single and scored on a groundout by Cunningham.

Sam Houston tripled and scored for Bangor, and Carl Farnham added an RBI single.
