Gleason, Stokes engagement

Peter and Fran Gleason have announced the engagement of their son, Benjamin Gleason from Gorham to Lauren Stokes, daughter of Barry and Caroline Stokes, of Jefferson Township, N.J.

The pair met in March 2008 while both attending the University of Rhode Island. He is a licensed landscape architect for Activitas in Dedham, Mass. She is the New England account executive for Hanjin Shipping.

Benjamin graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2009 with a bachelor in landscape architecture. Lauren graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2010 with a bachelor of science in International Business and a bachelor of arts in Spanish language and literature.

They reside in Weymouth, Mass., and plan on being wed in September 2014 in Amherst, Mass.

ALZ fair Saturday

Home Instead Senior Care, 502 Main St., Gorham, is inviting the public to attend its second annual ALZ Fair, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

The fair features vendors, a craft table, food table, book table, beautiful raffle baskets, plant table, music, refreshments, and lots of fun.

A representative from the Maine Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will attend to provide Alzheimer’s Association resource information. Proceeds from the ALZ Fair will benefit the Sept. 28 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Portland. For more information, call 839-0441.

Free community concert

Delta Knights will be in concert 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, in the gazebo on the lawn at Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.

Parking is along the street or in the municipal lot behind Baxter Memorial Library. The concert is sponsored by Gorham Recreation Department.

Morin named student ambassador

Stephanie Morin of Gorham has been named a student ambassador for the 2013-14 school year in the Front Line Foresters program at Huntington University in Indiana.

Morin is a senior public relations and history major at the university.

She and other student ambassadors will serve by hosting foundation breakfasts, participating in prayer ministry luncheons, hosting homecoming and family weekend events, welcoming the board of trustees to meetings, and showing appreciation to donors with thank-you calls and letters.

Gorham dean’s list

Gorham students named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish are Adam Hawkes, Paul Morse and Michelle Walls.

At Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., Seth Wing, a junior.

President’s list

Kelsie Ann Kerwin has been named to the president’s list for the spring semester at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on June 14 that the U.S. public debt was $16,738,697,370,019.81.

Gorham Economic Development Director Tom Ellsworth earlier this month displays the town’s new brand, “Gorham come grow with us,” for the Town Council, which unanimously approved it. The brand now appears on the town’s website.
