A two-story home on Champion Road in Lebanon was destroyed by an early morning fire Saturday.

The owners were not at home when the fire broke out at the Cape Cod-style home, said Lebanon Assistant Fire Chief Daniel Roy.

The building’s street number was not available.

Roy said his department was called to the scene at 2:38 a.m.

The house is on the border of Milton, N.H., and the Milton Fire Department was first on the scene, said Roy.

One firefighter was taken to Frisbee Hospital in Rochester, N.H., for treatment for exhaustion, said Roy.

It took 33 firefighters from five departments several hours to extinguish the blaze.

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause, said Roy.
