PORTLAND – Caleb Fraser struck out nine and allowed two hits over five hitless innings Tuesday to lead Andrews Post to a 4-0 victory against First Title in a Zone 4 American Legion baseball game at Cheverus High.

Mike Scala hit a two-run single to spark a four-run sixth inning for Portland.

Dan Kane and Ryan Ruhlin added RBI singles in the inning.

Brad Carney had two hits for Cheverus (1-3).

 

SACO BAY POINT 8, POSTS 79,87,214 1: Cole Merritt lined a two-run double and also scored as York scored seven times in the first inning to take control in a rain-shortened five-inning game at North Berwick.

STAPLES CROSSING 9, BONANZA 2: Jordan Roberge and Alex McLean hit solo homers in the fourth inning as Marshwood (5-1) cruised past Sanford (0-6) at South Berwick.

Roberge, McLean and Mac McCoomb finished with two hits apiece for Marshwood, which broke the game open with a five-run fifth.

 

CUMBERLAND 8, YARMOUTH 6: Tom Buchholz drove in the eventual winning run with a two-run single during a three-run sixth inning and visiting Greely (3-1-1) held off Yarmouth (2-2) in a Zone 4 game.

Corey Brink added an RBI single during a five-run second inning for Greely and Mike Leeman struck out five over three innings of relief to earn the save.

BRISTOL SEAFOOD 6, POST 128 1: Sam Leubbert struck out seven in a three-hitter, leading Deering (2-2) at Portland.

Deering broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run third inning highlighted by Kevin Goldberg’s two-run single. Nick Carmichael also stroked an RBI single in the rally.

 

WINDHAM MERCHANTS 3, ROGERS POST 1: Cody Dube finished with eight strikeouts and no earned runs, scattering six hits over seven innings to lead Windham Merchants (6-0) past visiting Rogers Post (3-3). Zach Conley had an RBI single for Windham in the sixth.

SOUTH PORTLAND 6, LIBBY-MITCHELL 1: Drew Abramson and Alex Livingston combined to throw a five-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk as South Portland (3-3) downed visiting Scarborough (1-5).

Nick Troiano had two hits and drove in a run, and Brian Currie scored twice for South Portland.

 

BRUNO’S 4, FIRST TITLE 2: Nick DiPalma drove in the eventual winning run with a two-run double in the sixth inning and Portland (4-1) held off Cheverus (3-4) at Deering Oaks in Portland.

Owen Pence of Portland struck out seven and walked one in a two-hitter.

OA YARMOUTH 7, CUMBERLAND 1: Cody Cook went 3 for 4 with an RBI triple and scored three runs, and C.J. Cawley had an RBI double to lead Yarmouth (7-1) past visiting Cumberland (0-4).

Jordan Brown struck out five and scattered four hits for Yarmouth.

 

CHASE CUSTOM HOMES 3, GRAY-NG POST 86 0: Trent Bassingthwaite and Jordan Ward hit RBI singles in the first inning and Zach Mills pitched five shutout innings to lead Gorham (7-1) past Gray-New Gloucester (5-3) at Gray.

Mike Bryant struck out 10 over 61/3 innings of relief for Gorham.

FAYETTE-STAPLES 2, LYMAN EAGLES 0: Trevor Grenier twice drew bases-loaded walks as Thornton (2-4), despite having only two hits, took advantage of wildness to beat Massabesic (7-1) at Saco.

Brandon Hall, who scored both runs, pitched a two-hitter for Thornton.

He struck out five in a game shortened to six innings because of lightning.

 

STANDISH POST 128 15, SCHWARTZ & SCHWARTZ 5: Kyle Jordan went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and five RBI as Bonny Eagle (2-5) cruised past Deering (0-7) in six innings at Standish.

Roderick Maynard added three hits, two RBI and two runs, and Nate Mandeville threw a six-hitter with three strikeouts for Bonny Eagle.

FAIRFIELD 16, WESTBROOK 2: J.T. Nutting gave up two runs in the first inning, then held Westbrook (3-3) scoreless the rest of the way, pitching a six-strikeout four-hitter as visiting Lawrence (7-1) won a mercy-rule six-inning game.

Lawrence scored one in the second before opening a 7-2 lead with six runs in the third.

Adam Littlefield rapped an RBI single during the third-inning rally.

 

SACO & BIDDEFORD SAVINGS BANK 7, SMITH-TOBEY 4: Biddeford (5-3) stroked two of its three hits during a seven-run fifth inning to overtake visiting Morse (1-7) in a game that was shortened to six innings because of rain.

Nick Gallant followed a pair of walks with a two-run double, and Brady Crepeau singled in two more after another walk and an error.

RAGING TIDE 7, DIRT DAWGS 3: Dylan Begin had two hits, a walk, an RBI and a run, and Shane Bussey drove in two runs for Old Orchard Beach (7-6), which scored seven straight runs to beat Wachusett (3-9) at Leominster, Mass.
