PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — A three-alarm fire on a street in Portsmouth, N.H., has destroyed several apartments and injured a firefighter.

The Portsmouth Herald reports that firefighters arrived Sunday to “heavy smoke in the second- and third-floor windows,” of the four-story building on Daniel Street, which has buildings on either side of it. The fire was brought under control by 6 p.m.

Firefighters are investigating the cause. They said there was some damage to the Banks Gallery, an art gallery in the next building, and the Eye Glass Shop, which is located underneath the apartments.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
