BOSTON – After the Boston Bruins failed to get Jarome Iginla at the trade deadline, they grabbed him in free agency.

The longtime Calgary Flames forward, who was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in March, signed a one-year deal with the Bruins on Friday. The right wing will have a base salary of $1.8 million along with $4.2 million in incentives, which gives him a $6 million salary-cap charge.

The 36-year-old Iginla entered this past season having scored at least 30 goals 11 straight times. He registered 14 goals and 33 points in 44 games between Calgary and Pittsburgh, and then had four goals and eight assists in 15 postseason games with the Penguins.

In 1,232 regular-season games, he has 530 goals and 576 assists.

In other moves, Boston signed goalie Chad Johnson to a one-year, $600,000 deal. Boston gave forward Bobby Robins a two-year, two-way contract; forward Nick Johnson a one-year, two-way deal; and defenseman Mike Moore a two-way, one-year contract.

BLUE JACKETS: Free-agent Nathan Horton, 28, a critical component in the Bruins’ drive to the Stanley Cup finals, signed a seven-year deal worth $37.1 million.

OILERS: Former Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference, having been told he was no longer needed in Boston, signed a four-year, $13 million deal with Edmonton. The 34-year-old blueliner is from Edmonton.

RED WINGS: Longtime Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, 40, agreed to a $5.5 million, one-year contract with Detroit in his quest for an elusive Stanley Cup ring.

SENATORS-DUCKS: Having lost its much-admired captain to Detroit, Ottawa acquired forward Bobby Ryan in a trade with Anaheim.

In exchange for landing the four-time 30-goal scorer, the Senators dealt forwards Jakob Silfverbeg, Stefan Noesen and their first-round pick in next year’s draft to Anaheim.

COYOTES: Free-agent forward Mike Ribeiro, a 14-year veteran who spent last season with the Washington Capitals, signed a four-year, $22 million contract.

The Coyotes also signed free- agent goalie Thomas Greiss to a one-year contract. Greiss spent parts of the past four seasons with San Jose.

DEVILS: Forward Ryane Clowe, who played with San Jose and the New York Rangers last season, agreed to a $24.25 million, five-year contract.

New Jersey also added two forwards by signing Michael Ryder to a two-year, $7 million contract and Rostislav Olesz to a one-year, $1 million deal.

LIGHTNING: Center Valtteri Filppula left Detroit for a five-year, $25 million contract with the Tampa Bay, where his former teammate, Steve Yzerman, is general manager.

The Lightning also signed first-round pick Jonathan Drouin to a three-year, entry-level contact.

RANGERS: With limited salary-cap space, New York added two forwards in Dominic Moore and Benoit Pouliot, and defenseman Aaron Johnson.

The 32-year-old Moore, now in his second stint with the Rangers, sat out last season following the death of his wife in January. Pouliot, 26, left the Tampa Bay Lightning for a one-year, $1.3 million deal with New York.

Johnson, 30, split last season shuffling between the NHL Boston Bruins and AHL Providence.

FLYERS: Captain Claude Giroux was rewarded with an eight-year extension worth over $64 million, and Philadelphia also signed Chicago’s backup goalie Ray Emery to a one-year deal.

WILD-JETS: Minnesota sent forward Devin Setoguchi to Winnipeg for a second-round pick in next year’s draft.

Setoguchi, 26, had 13 goals and 14 assists last season.

PENGUINS: Former Penguin defenseman Rob Scuderi, 34, left Los Angeles for a four-year, $13.5 million deal to come back to Pittsburgh.

BLACKHAWKS: The Stanley Cup champions re-signed defenseman Michal Rozsival and forward Michal Handzus.

PREDATORS: Chicago forward Viktor Stalberg agreed to a $12 million, four-year deal in Nashville.

STARS: Dallas acquired Edmonton center Shawn Horcoff for defenseman Philip Larsen and a 2016 seventh-round draft pick.
