WESTBROOK – Westbrook police have identified Michael G. Allen, 38, a musician and lobsterman from Portland, as the man whose body was pulled from the Presumpscot River near the Cumberland Street bridge at around 3:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Capt. Tom Roth said the cause of death was not suspicious and the investigation is closed.

Multiple Facebook pages, including one for his band Doubting Gravity, had been asking for help locating Allen. The Doubting Gravity page said he had been missing since Friday, July 5. The band played a show at the well-known Portland bar Brian Boru’s on July 4.

According to Capt. Michael Nugent, police and fire departments were both at the scene to remove the dead body.

Fans of the band and friends of Allen have begun to post their condolences to the band’s Facebook page.
