NEWINGTON, N.H.  — A father and son have been accused of tying an elderly woman to her bed and ransacking her home in New Hampshire.

Johnathan Richardson and his son, Justin Richardson, both of Rochester, are jailed in Strafford County on charges related to a Dover church break-in.

The Portsmouth Herald reports both are wanted in Newington on burglary charges for an incident July 8.

Police Chief John Tretter said two men walked into the home after 11 p.m. They first thought the house was empty, but then saw a woman in her 80s sleeping in a first-floor bedroom. She woke up and they restrained her before going through her things and taking some cash.

The woman told police about the crime the following afternoon.
