SOUTH BERWICK – Drew Gelinas had four hits and four RBI to lead Fayette-Staples to a 14-8, eight-inning win over Staples Crossing in the American Legion Zone 5 championship game Thursday.

Gelinas hit a two-run double in the sixth, spurring a six-run rally that helped the Saco team (12-6) end the game early against Staples Crossing (16-3).

Kip Richard and Ryder Kenney each knocked in two runs for Fayette-Staples.

JUNIOR LEGION

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, STANDISH 0: Nate Ingalls struck out nine and walked none in a two-hit shutout, and host Cape Elizabeth (13-6) eliminated Standish Post 128 (8-9) in the first round of the tournament.

Dylan Roberts knocked in the first run on a fielder’s choice in the first inning. Matt Riggle brought home Matt Dennison with a single in the sixth.

SOUTH PORTLAND 8, FALMOUTH 6: Griffin Kelley entered a tie game in the third inning with no outs and the bases loaded, and squelched a six-run rally for Falmouth (8-10), helping South Portland (12-7) win at home.

Kelley allowed two hits and struck out five in five innings.

South Portland retook the lead in the fourth when Griffin Henderson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Alex Livingston drove in another run with a sacrifice fly.

Cal Inlow had a three-run triple for Falmouth.

WESTBROOK 5, GRAY-NG 4: Keegan Sears struck out 11 and gave up one earned run in 61/3 innings to help Westbrook (13-6) win at home.

Westbrook led the rest of the way after taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from D.J. Henderson and a run-scoring double by Sears.

BIDDEFORD 9, YARMOUTH 4: Sam Collins singled in two runs in the first inning as Biddeford Savings Bank took a 4-0 lead over host OA-Yarmouth (11-8).

Biddeford put it away with five runs in the fifth. Kerry Crepeau had two hits and scored two runs, and Jason Vanas scattered nine hits in a complete game.
