One of the greatest pleasures I have in life is watching my dog Quincy swim after his ball in the ocean on Pine Point Beach during the summer. It is his favorite thing to do and he usually only gets to swim a few times a year.

While it is a shame that a piping plover was killed by an errant dog, it seems a bit of an over-reaction to further restrict every dog and dog owner in town. I think Town Council Chairman Ronald Ahlquist’s stance is typical overreach by a government official trying to force his views on the rest of the public.

We don’t need another Michael Bloomberg in Scarborough. This is an even worse idea than restricting the roadside memorials.
