WARREN, N.H. — Officials are investigating the death of a North Carolina man who was found dead in his tent along the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire State Police say two hikers reported finding an unresponsive man in the town of Warren at about 8:30 a.m. Monday. When police arrived, they found 54-year-old Robert Accola of Raleigh, N.C., dead in his tent.

Police say he appears to have died of natural causes and that his death is not considered suspicious.
