Charest bon voyage

The breakfast club at Rivers Edge Deli gathered on July 24 for a farewell party for the Florida-bound Phil Charest.

The group enjoyed camaraderie and a buffet breakfast courtesy of Bob Eaton, owner of R.G. Eaton Woodworks, and Mark Gartley, a former Maine secretary of state.

Charest and his wife, Claudette, left Westbrook on July 25 for their home in a gated community in Summerfield, Fla. They have sold their Westbrook property but plan future visits to Westbrook, where they have resided the past 10 years.

Phil Charest, a 1967 graduate of Gorham High School, grew up on his family’s Hereford farm in Gorham and is a former Gorham town councilor.

Claudette Charest worked a number of years in the town clerk’s office in Gorham Town Hall.

They have enjoyed cruises in the past and he said at the sendoff that they plan to travel.
