STANDISH – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred on Route 113 in Standish Thursday night at about 10:46 p.m.

A vehicle traveling north on Route 113 was passed by another vehicle also traveling northbound. The passing vehicle fired several shots at the victim’s vehicle, with the victim being struck in the leg.

The victim, who was alone in his vehicle, chased the suspect’s vehicle northbound on Route 113, but lost contact with it near the intersection of routes 11 and 113 in Steep Falls. The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center and was treated and released.

The incident does not appear to be random.

Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating this incident. If anyone has any information, contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 893-2810 and ask to speak to a criminal investigator.
