AHL: The Portland Pirates signed veteran left wing Kyle Hagel.
A 6-1, 210-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario, Hagel, 28, spent his last season with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, scoring two goals and adding four assists with 172 penalty minutes.
Since graduating from Princeton University in 2008, Hagel also has played in the AHL for the Rochester Americans, Rockford IceHogs and Peoria Rivermen.
