PORTLAND (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage says the state is offering marketing assistance and help securing an operating line of credit to re-establish ferry service to Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia government has selected a Maine company, STM Quest, to run the service. And it’s offering $21 million in subsidies over seven years to help.
LePage and Nova Scotia’s economic development minister, Graham Steele, met Wednesday at the Ocean Gateway in Portland to discuss the service.
The ferry service is proposed to begin next spring using a new 528-foot ship that has capacity for 1,250 passengers and 300 cars and trucks.
