YARMOUTH — Montgomery Lane Yale, 73, died Aug. 19 at Maine Medical Center from complications from cancer, with his loving family by his side.

Yale was born March 26, 1940, in Providence, R.I., to O. Sherman Yale and Marjorie Montgomery. His family moved to Yarmouth in 1954, where he attended local schools and lived for the rest of his life. He was a 1959 graduate of North Yarmouth Academy and attended the University of Southern Maine.

Yale married Pamela Daniells in 1958. Together they raised their family in Yarmouth.

He owned and operated several businesses over the years in Scarborough and Yarmouth along with commercial properties. Along with his sons he was a longtime member of the Portland Yacht Club. He was a man who loved life, loved his cars, boats, hunting and fishing, but most importantly, he loved sharing it all with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pamela; their daughter, Joanne Lowenthal and her husband, Lee, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; son Christopher and his wife, Trish, of Cumberland; son Skip and his wife, Wendy, of Yarmouth; brother Tom Yale and his wife, Debrah, of Boothbay Harbor; and grandchildren Cassie, Tom, Megan and Sandy. He was predeceased by his parents. 

A celebration of his life was held Monday at the Portland Yacht Club, in Falmouth. Burial was private.
