BANGOR – Lauren Chouinard scored off a pass from Desiree Parent in the 83rd minute as St. Joseph’s College finally broke through for a 1-0 victory over Maine Maritime Academy and a second-place finish in the Husson University Classic women’s soccer tournament.

The Monks (2-0) had a 23-2 advantage in shots, but Taylor O’Malley made seven saves to keep the Mariners (0-2) in it.

MEN’S SOCCER

SALVE REGINA 1, ST. JOSEPH’S 1: Kyle Shangraw scored a first-half goal for the Monks (0-1-1), who settled for a draw with the Seahawks (1-0-1) in the Roger Williams University Squad Locker Classic at Bristol, R.I.

Alvaro Castillo evened it for Salve Regina early in the second half.

Roger Williams won the tournament.

FIELD HOCKEY

MICHIGAN 4, MAINE 2: Lauren Thomas and Michelle Roberts scored in the final 15 minutes, and an overturned Maine goal helped the Wolverines (1-1) beat the Black Bears (0-2) at Orono.

Cassidy Svetek’s go-ahead goal with 25 minutes left was overturned after a discussion by the officials.

Kaitlynn Stymiest and Marissa Shaw scored for the Black Bears. Svetek had two assists.

HUSSON 3, UNE 2: The Nor’easters (0-1) rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit, but Liz Noddin scored at 1:47 of overtime to lift the Eagles (1-1) at Bangor.

Casey Clark got UNE within one in the 45th minute and Hannah Warren tied it with 10:34 left in regulation.

FOOTBALL

(9) LOUISVILLE 49, OHIO 7: Teddy Bridgewater threw five touchdown passes and Michael Dyer had a 46-yard touchdown run as the Cardinals opened with a dominant win at home.
