WESTBROOK – Danielle Breunig scored her second goal of the game with 16:42 remaining to send Westbrook to a 2-1 win over Deering in an SMAA field hockey game Friday.

Breunig’s winner for the Blue Blazes (1-1) came just a minute after Thuy Phan tied it for Deering (0-2).

Breunig started the scoring at 4:44 of the second half.

THORNTON ACADEMY 3, GORHAM 0: Libby Pomerleau scored two first-half goals for the Trojans (2-0) in a win over the Rams (1-1) at Saco.

Lauren Russell and Morgan Dube assisted on Pomerleau’s goal. Kaitlin Hilton added a goal with 11:27 left, assisted by Katlynn Barden.

MARSHWOOD 5, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Karissa Boesch and Lizzy Poirier scored two goals apiece as the Hawks (1-1) beat the Red Riots (0-2) at South Portland.

Cassidy Smith finished with four saves for Marshwood. South Portland’s Hanna Gato had 18 saves.

KENNEBUNK 4, POLAND 0: Liv Kudas made seven saves to secure a shutout for the Rams against the Knights at Kennebunk.

Ashley Huston, Kristen Koch and Jackie Murphy scored in the first half. Meg Cadigan provided the lone goal of the second half.

CONY 6, BRUNSWICK 1: The Rams (2-0) had six players score in a win over the Dragons (1-1) at Brunswick.

Laurel Wheelock, Hailey Hanks, Arika Brochu, Abby Naborowsky, Emily Bowers and Delaney Keithly each had a goal for Cony.

Grace Rabinowitz provided the only goal for Brunswick.

MESSALONSKEE 10, MT. ARARAT 0: Emily Hogan scored four goals to pace Messalonskee (2-0) to a win over Mt. Ararat (0-2) at Topsham.

Erin Field, Brooke Quirion and Nathalie St. Pierre added two goals apiece.

HALL-DALE 2, ST. DOMINIC 1: Shanay Gilbert scored on a rush down the left wing with about four minutes left in the second overtime as the Bulldogs won a season opener at Auburn.

St. Dom’s took a 1-0 lead when Callie Greco scored from Emma Simpson. Hall-Dale tied it when Amber Bell scored from Gilbert.

Molly French made three saves for Hall-Dale, while Taylor Bercerow had six saves for St. Dominic.

WINTHROP 6, BOOTHBAY REGION 1: Emma Spahr scored a school-record five goals as the Ramblers won their MVC opener at Boothbay Harbor.

Kelsey Stoneton added a goal and an assist.

Nicole LaBrecque scored for Boothbay (0-1). Skyler Davis made 19 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

KENNEBUNK 3, LAKE REGION 0: Gaby White recorded 24 service points over two games to help the Rams win their opening match at Kennebunk.

White won 10 straight points in Game 2, a 25-13 win. White posted 14 more service points in Game 3, which the Rams took 25-3.
