BREWER — A U.S. Army unit is being honored for its service in eastern Afghanistan during an award ceremony in Brewer.
Members of Company B, 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment will receive the Unit Valorous Award at the Brewer Armory at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The award is the second-highest decoration given to Army units. The Maine Army National Guard says it’s awarded to units that display “extraordinary heroism” in action against an armed enemy.
Brig. Gen. James D. Campbell, Maine’s adjutant general, is scheduled to speak at the ceremony.
