AUGUSTA — Thousands of motorcyclists are gathering in Maine’s capital for an annual fundraiser to benefit needy children at Christmas.

More than 20,000 riders from around the state are gathering at the Augusta Civic Center at noon Sunday for the United Bikers of Maine’s 32nd annual Toy Run.

Participants will ride 13 miles to the Windsor Fairgrounds, where thousands of toys will be delivered and later distributed to needy children throughout Maine during the Christmas holiday season.

First lady Ann LePage will speak to the bikers before they depart, giving thanks to their continued support of Maine children.
