MANCHESTER, N.H. — Manchester police say two men have been hospitalized with serious burns after an explosion in a diesel tank at a Mobil station.

Police and fire personnel were called to the gas station at 1095 Hanover St. at about 1 p.m. Monday and found that the two injured men were workers for Tank Tech Inc. of Missouri.

The company had been contracted to make repairs to the in-ground tank. Two workers were inside the tank when a fire and explosion erupted.

Police say one injured man was able to crawl out of the tank, while the other had to be rescued.

Both men were said to have suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to a Boston hospital.
