The honor guard for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office took first place over the weekend in a precision drill competition out of 30 New England teams participating in the annual Yankee Doodle Homecoming Parade in Billerica, Mass.
The seven-member team marched Saturday. This is the first year it has entered the parade, one of many events in the festival.
Other prizes were awarded for best uniform, most consecutive appearances at the event and longest distance traveled.
