LYME, N.H. — Police in Lyme, N.H., say a driver whose vehicle skidded and flipped over into a pond has died of his injuries.

Police said 58-year-old Gerald Pare of Methuen, Mass., died Thursday night at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

He had been traveling south on Route 10 Wednesday morning when he appeared to lose control of his vehicle and plunged into Post Pond. The car flipped as it hit the water.

Authorities and witnesses said he was submerged for three to five minutes and did not regain consciousness at the scene.

Two boaters and a passing driver pulled Pare out of the water.

The crash is still under investigation.
