Music and Nightlife: Umphrey’s McGee to improg-rock the State
UMPHREY’S MCGEE is often categorized as an “improg” or “progressive improvisation” band. That’s because they can improvise, like the jam bands of the ’90s, but they’re heavily influenced by the progressive rock of the ’70s. That’s quite a combo. Saturday they’ll be playing the State Theatre, with The London Souls.
WHEN: 8 p.m. Saturday
WHERE: State Theatre, 609 Congress St., Portland
HOW MUCH: $22.50 in advance; $25 day of the show
