EDMUNDS TOWNSHIP — Gov. Paul LePage is visiting with fishermen that were affected by the closing of a boat launch due to the federal government shutdown.

The Republican governor is expected to travel to the Edmunds Boat Launch at Cobscook Bay State Park on Thursday.

Barriers were placed at the launch earlier this week preventing fishermen from accessing it because of the partial federal government shutdown. The park is owned by the federal government but maintained by state officials.

But Maine’s congressional delegation said on Wednesday that federal officials agreed to no longer block fisherman from accessing the launch even if the shutdown were to persist.
