Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located at 132 Botanical Gardens Dr. in Boothbay, is presenting a new exhibit, “Harrowing Harvest Folk,” featuring small scarecrow sculptures by Diane Walden.
The exhibit is hanging in the garden’s Bosarge Family Education Center. It will run through Halloween, Oct. 31.

Walden, of Thomaston, is an artist, horticulturist and floral designer. She is also a staff member and popular instructor at the botanical gardens.
Walden creates her “mini meanies,” with a variety of botanicals, grasses, seedpods, shattered shells, straw and wood trimmings. She also refers to her sculptures as autumnal totems, seasonal santos and scarebots.
Walden is also known for her floral arrangements and garlands, which she makes with a variety of greens entwined with flowers.
The exhibit is free with admission to the botanical gardens, which are open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All of her pieces are for sale.
