AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage is returning to Maine after a five-day trade mission in Mexico and Colombia.

LePage and the delegation who accompanied him are expected to arrive in Maine on Saturday.

The trip was designed to promote Maine businesses and educational institutions abroad in order to create business and investment opportunities. LePage’s office says eight companies and three schools were featured throughout the mission.

In Mexico, the governor met with a group of Mexican investors and local business leaders in Queretaro, which has become a hub for auto and aerospace industries.

The group traveled to Bogota, Colombia, on Wednesday where they led a discussion highlighting Maine’s schools for Colombian students and parents.
