LINCOLN — A northern Maine mill is investigating an explosion that temporarily shut down the mill but resulted in no injuries.

The explosion was reported around 7 a.m. Saturday near the recovery boiler area at the Lincoln Paper and Tissue mill in Lincoln.

Mill officials tell WABI-TV that three people were working in the area at the time, but that nobody was injured.

Officials say they aren’t sure of the extent of the damages and are investigating what caused the explosion.

The recovery boiler is used to burn chemicals generated through the pulping process.
