KENNEBUNK (AP) — State police say a busy Maine Turnpike travel plaza has re-opened following a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.

The Maine Turnpike Authority says police cleared out the Kennebunk travel plaza and blocked off the southbound turnpike offramp leading to it after getting wind of the threat at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police performed a sweep of the building using a police dog trained in explosives detection, but they didn’t find anything suspicious. The plaza re-opened at about 9:15 a.m.

Officials didn’t release details of the threat, other than to say it was made on the plaza site.
