Each winner receives a $10,000 grant that goes toward a grassroots community project. The public cast more than 58,000 votes online in selecting the winners from 51 finalists, one from each state and the District of Columbia.

This year’s grants will help support projects aimed at preserving land, promoting community gardens, helping people with disabilities, providing food and shelter to those in need, and empowering children.

The winners come from Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
