Two runners compete at New Englands
A pair of runners from the city of Portland took part in the season-ending New England cross country championships Saturday in Manchester, N.H. Cheverus’ Kiera Murray came in 53rd in the girls’ race (completing the 5,000 meter course in 19 minutes, 15.2 seconds). Deering’s Yahya Hussein had the 116th-fastest time in the boys’ race (16:50.5).
PHS Football Hall of Fame ceremony upcoming
The inaugural Portland High School Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the Italian Heritage Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The first class includes Ed Bogdanovich, John “Giant” Conroy, James J. Fitzpatrick, Willie Greenlaw, Shaun Hawkins, Quinton Porter and Mike Rutherford. Tickets are $25 and are available at Bruno’s Restaurant, Forest Garden and Joe’s Smoke Shop.
