PHIPPSBURG — Winter events at Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association will include the Winter Youth Field Day on Jan. 12 and the Dickie Lemont “Take A Kid Fishing Ice Fishing Derby” on Feb. 9.

At the Winter Youth Field Day, children get to try snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, dogsledding and winter animal tracking. During demonstrations they will meet a working bloodhound and maybe even a Peregrine falcon. Children must be accompanied by an adult and lunch will be provided.

At the Ice Fishing Derby, kids and families see who can catch the largest fish in Sagadahoc County lakes and ponds.

Prizes are awarded for the largest bass, crappie, pickerel, perch and several other species categories.

There is no charge for either of these events.
