WOOLWICH — Grace E. Smith, 97, of Middle Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. She had the Boston Gold Post Cane for being the oldest citizen in Woolwich.

She moved to this area as a young child. She attended Woolwich schools and Morse High School. She was employed at Congress Sportswear in Bath for many years. In 2006 she moved in with her daughter Betsy Mosier.

Grace loved word search and puzzles and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the former Woolwich Congregational Church in Woolwich, the Good Sam’s Club, Bath Area Senior Citizens, was a life member of the Woolwich Grange and the Rusty Nuts Antique Car Club.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter A. Smith; one son, Dennis W. Smith on April 16, 2001; three brothers, Elwyn Skillin, Erwin Skillin and Orman Skillin, and two sisters,

Dorothea Rice and Gertrude Brawn.

She is survived by one son, Oakley Smith and his longtime companion Cindy Gross of Pittston; two daughters, Sandra J. Emerson and her husband Robert of Woolwich and Betsy J. Mosier of Woolwich; one brother, Myron Skillin of Dresden; 13 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; 11 great- great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Woolwich.
