Gorham police were searching Wednesday for a Limington man who allegedly hit his former fiancee with his sport utility vehicle Tuesday night and then fled.

Jeremy Whynot, 35, hit the woman so hard that she was knocked into the air and landed on her back outside her home, police said.

The woman’s name is not being released by police.

She was taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland and released Wednesday morning after being treated for minor injuries.

Gorham police obtained an arrest warrant charging Whynot with domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

Whynot was last seen driving a gray 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Maine license plate 5273 TS.

Lt. Christopher Sanborn said Gorham police spent most of Wednesday looking for Whynot.

On Tuesday, police were called to a home on Maple Ridge Road around 8:21 p.m.

When they arrived, they said, they found a Gorham woman who had been hit by Whynot’s vehicle.

Whynot had left.

Sanborn said the two were arguing when Whynot apparently lost his temper and rammed the victim.

Police are asking that anyone with knowledge of Whynot’s whereabouts contact them at 839-5581.
