Courtney Brett and freshman Katashia Titherington scored eight points apiece Friday night to lead Deering to a 35-29 victory against Bonny Eagle in SMAA schoolgirl basketball on the first night of the regular season.

Brett also had seven rebounds and Titherington contributed five assists for the Rams. Amanda Brett led the Rams in rebounding with 13.

Samantha Maxfield scored 10 points to lead the Scots, who opened a 9-5 lead in the first quarter. The Rams scored 15 points in the second to take a 20-16 lead as Mary Tadsse scored all six of her points. 

WAYNFLETE 71, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 38: Helen Gray-Bauer scored 20 of her career-high 24 points in the first half, and also had six rebounds and four steals as the Flyers cruised at Portland.

Leigh Fernandez added 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Flyers, who took a 27-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Clarissa Jones paced the Lions with 15 points.

OCEANSIDE 51, MEDOMAK VALLEY 28: Emily Gould scored 15 points to lead the Mariners at Waldoboro.

Makenna Brooks added 13 points and Ashley Gardner scored 11 for the Mariners, who opened with an 11-1 run.

Hannah Marks led the Panthers with nine points. 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 57, TRAIP ACADEMY 45: Abigail Dubois scored a game-high 22 points to pace the Seagulls at Kittery.

Mackenzie Rague added 16 points and Lauralee Small scored 12 for the Seagulls, who used their pressure defense to force a number of turnovers.

Emily Hartley led Traip with 15 points.

SCARBOROUGH 56, BIDDEFORD 32: Bailey Adams scored 17 points, Ashley Briggs added 13 and the Red Storm pulled away at Biddeford.

Scarborough closed the third quarter on an 18-6 run, opening a 46-30 lead. Adams scored seven of the Storm’s 20 points in the period. Briggs and Brooke Malone each had four.

Carrisa Gelinas led the Tigers with 15 points. 

SOUTH PORTLAND 66, NOBLE 14: Brianne Maloney scored 16 points to lead the Red Riots at North Berwick.

Madeline Hasson added 11 points and Mackenzie Bowring had 10 for South Portland, which opened with a 19-0 run. 

CHEVERUS 46, WINDHAM 33: Georgia Ford and Jess Willerson scored 13 points apiece to pace the Stags at Windham.

Willerson scored eight points in the second quarter as the Stags outscored Windham 16-5 to open a 32-18 halftime lead.

Casey Simpson added five points in the second quarter.

Mya Mannette led Windham with 11 points. 

BRUNSWICK 56, CONY 53: Julia Champagne scored 26 points with 14 rebounds, seven assists and three steals as the Dragons held on at Brunswick.

Lyse Henshaw chipped in 15 points for Brunswick.

Henshaw made 4 of 4 free throws and Champagne hit 5 of 6 in the fourth quarter.

Emily Quirion had 29 points and Hayley Quirion added 14 for Cony. 

POLAND 52, FREEPORT 31: Michaella Arsenault scored 28 points to lead the Knights at Poland.

Emily Bolduc chipped in 12 points for Poland, which took a 16-6 lead in the first quarter.

Nina Davenport scored 10 points for Freeport. 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 54, GREELY 31: Maria Valente scored seven of her game-high 24 points in the third quarter as the Patriots used a 13-4 run to pull away at Gray.

Valente also added seven rebounds and six steals for the Patriots, who led 25-22 at halftime.

Moira Train led Greely with nine points. 

LINCOLN ACADEMY 61, BELFAST 19: Jen Genthner scored 18 points, including 10 free throws, and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Eagles at Belfast.

Brie Wajer added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists for Lincoln, which led 30-11 at halftime. 

MESSALONSKEE 45, MT. ARARAT 31: Kelsey Mayo finished with 14 points and Kassaundra Michaud added 12 to lead Messalonskee at Oakland.

Lindsey Cornelison paced Mt. Ararat with 12 points. 

WELLS 45, CAPE ELIZABETH 32: Alison Furness scored 18 points to help Wells win at Cape Elizabeth.

The Warriors built a 24-15 lead in the first half. Maddie Bowe led Cape with eight points. 

FOREST HILLS 67, VINALHAVEN 39: Anna Carrier had 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Tigers won at Jackman.

Kori Coro added 13 points and seven steals, and Dana McNally had 12 assists for Forest Hills. 

CAMDEN HILLS 44, WATERVILLE 43: Maddie Bowman scored 15 points and Becca Hilt added 10 to lead the Windjammers at Waterville

Charlotte Messer also scored 10 points for Camden Hills.

Jordan Jabar scored 17 points and Colleen O’Donnell added 11 for Waterville.

CARRABEC 55, WISCASSET 42: Emma Plunte had 11 points as the Cobras won at Wiscasset.

Hanna Atwood and Mickayla Willette each had 10 points for Carrabec.

Briana Goud scored 15 points for Wiscasset. 

GORHAM 69, MARSHWOOD 33: Emily Esposito scored 19 points as the Rams won at South Berwick.

Abby Hamilton added 10 points for Gorham, which outscored Marshwood 22-9 in the second quarter to pull away from a 15-12 first-period lead.

PORTLAND 59, MASSABESIC 36: Elizabeth Donato scored 17 points and Cierra Burnham as 16 as Portland rolled at home.

The Bulldogs led 25-17 at halftime, then pressed early in the second half to open a 17-point advantage.

Jolena Lampron paced the Mustangs with 11 points. 

LAWRENCE 37, SKOWHEGAN 30: Paige Belanger had 12 points as the Bulldogs won their season opener in Fairfield.

Nia Irving added 10 points, while Dominique Lewis had nine for Lawrence.

Liza White added eight points for Mountain Valley.

Brooke Millbury led Mt. Abram with four points. 

WINSLOW 32, MCI 29: Heather Kervin scored 11 points and Devin Fitzsimmons added eight to lead the Black Raiders to a victory at Pittsfield.

Brianna Losee scored 10 points and Ashley Alton had nine for the Huskies.
