A Portland woman and two men from Massachusetts were charged with drug trafficking after authorities seized six pounds of marijuana, two large bags of psychedelic mushrooms and $33,000 in cash.
The investigation began Tuesday evening after Maine State Police Trooper Kevin Rooney stopped a vehicle on Interstate 295 in Scarborough. Rooney said he smelled marijuana and found $9,000 in cash in the vehicle, according to a news release from spokesman Stephen McCausland. Suspecting the two men were on their way to buy drugs, Rooney released the two men in the vehicle –Sean Bailey, 21, and Brandon Livington, 20.
The trooper then contacted Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents to get help following the car into Portland. The vehicle stopped at an apartment on Noyes Street where Jessie Fredrickson, 31, lives, and the apartment was searched.
Fredrickson was charged with aggravated trafficking of marijuana. Bailey and Livingston were each charged with unlawful trafficking of marijuana.
