A New Hampshire man pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland to two armed bank robberies in October, one at Kennebunk Savings in Eliot and the other at the Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union in Sanford.
Daniel Barry, 38, of Pembroke, N.H., was one of four people charged in a series of five robberies in New Hampshire and Maine from Aug. 21 to Oct. 26.

Barry was arrested last month after his accused accomplice, Philip Gage, 46, of Somersworth, N.H., gave Barry’s name to authorities who arrested Gage on Oct. 31, according to court records.
Gage is also charged with two counts of armed bank robbery, in the holdups at Kennebunk Savings on Oct. 19 and the Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union on Oct. 26. Gage has yet to enter a plea and remains in custody.
Barry was accused of supplying the guns that Gage used in both Maine robberies, a .44-caliber revolver that was used in Eliot and a .22-caliber revolver that was used in Sanford. Both guns were recovered in a search of Barry’s home.
He also was accused of assisting Gage inside the bank during the robbery in Eliot, according to court records.
“Gage remained in the lobby of Kennebunk Savings during the robbery and pointed the revolver at Kennebunk Savings employees,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Clark in a court document filed Thursday. “Barry vaulted over the teller counter and took $7,896 in United States currency from the teller drawers, placing them in a green colored gym bag.”
Gage is accused of stealing another $8,574 in the robbery in Sanford, according to the court records.
Gage is also accused of three bank robberies in New Hampshire: at the Citizens Bank in Somersworth on Aug. 21; at the People’s United Bank in Exeter on Oct. 7, and at the Meredith Village Savings Bank in Alton on Oct. 10, according to an affidavit filed in support of the charges.
The two others arrested in connection with the ring are Marvin Eugene Ansteth Jr., 40, and Brianne Mone, 27, both of New Hampshire. They are accused of being getaway drivers for more than one of the robberies.
Mone pleaded guilty Thursday in Portland to charges in connection with two robberies.
The cases against Ansteth remain pending.
Barry, who faces as much as 20 years in federal prison on each armed robbery count, is scheduled for sentencing in April.
